In the past year Dizzee, Tinchy and Chipmunk have all had top ten hits, BUT ( it’s a big but) to gain mainstream acceptance they have had to abandon certain elements of their grime roots. The new Wiley single ‘Never Be Your Woman’ however, could change this and if it gets the same love as some of his peer’s recent tracks it could signal a shift, towards more grime based beats and rhymes. Interestingly, the single also features none other than Emeli Sande someone we blogged about at the beginning of June, since then she has hit the top ten with Chipmunk’s ‘Diamond Ring’s.
